How artists get paid on AfroPublish
Artists on AfroPublish earn in two ways: streaming royalties when fans listen to their songs, and licence sales when other artists license their beats. Every stream, sale, and royalty line is visible in the artist dashboard, and earnings are withdrawn to a bank account, mobile money, or PayPal from the Earnings page.
Streaming royalties: the fan-powered model
Listening on AfroPublish is always free for fans. Fans who want to directly support artists subscribe to AfroPublish Plus, and here’s the part that makes the model different: a Plus subscriber’s money is shared among the artists that subscriber actually streamed that month — not poured into a global pool dominated by the biggest names. Streams from free listeners still earn through ad-funded royalties. Royalties are calculated monthly and credited to each artist’s balance.
Licence sales
Producers sell licences for beats, instrumentals, and sound kits — from a Basic Lease to full Exclusive Rights. The sale amount is credited to the producer’s balance immediately, with the licence number and buyer recorded in the dashboard. How licensing works →
Getting the money out
- Open Dashboard → Earnings and request a payout from your available balance.
- Choose your method: bank account or mobile money (via Paystack), or PayPal.
- Funds typically arrive within a few business days. If a transfer fails, the money is returned to your balance automatically — nothing is lost.
What it costs
Publishing on AfroPublish is free — the free tier includes up to 25 songs and 5 music videos. There is no charge to create an artist profile, upload, or appear in search and charts.
