Most amapiano sits between about 110 and 115 BPM, with 112 to 113 BPM very common. The slow, rolling tempo leaves room for the log drum and long piano and vocal phrases.
What makes an amapiano beat?
A deep, bouncing log-drum bassline, jazzy or soulful piano chords, shakers and percussive loops, and plenty of space for vocals and builds. It grew out of Gauteng's townships in the mid-2010s, blending deep house, jazz and kwaito.
