The announcement of FKJ’s upcoming third album made me look back at how I first discovered his music.
I was initially introduced to the French singer and multi-instrumentalist and producer through his collaboration with US artist Masego (on “Tadow”). That was quite a few years ago.
Over the years, I’ve remained drawn to his lush soundscapes and intoxicating blend of everything from jazz, soul and funk to indie and electronic music.
Titled Tyber, and scheduled for a September 11 release, the upcoming album promises to be his most adventurous yet. You just need to listen to the first single, “Soulmates”.
“‘Soulmates’ is about embracing your solitude” FKJ shares. “For me, solitude really works, and I’m taking time with myself. But I really care about my soulmates, the people in my life who are important to me. It’s all about finding the balance.”
FKJ a.k.a. French Kiwi Juice a.k.a. Vincent Fenton is a musician in every sense of the word. I recommend you watch a couple of his live sets on YouTube. For more, follow FKJ on Instagram.
